What is an English Course Project?
An English Course project is an in-depth investigation of a topic worth learning more about. The goals of this project are to learn about the chosen topic, to put in practice all that you have learned in the English course as well as to improve your English communication skills. The project is usually undertaken by a small group of students within a class (3, most of the cases). This project consists of a written work and an oral presentation.
Qué es un proyecto de curso de inglés?
Un proyecto de curso es una investigación en profundidad de un tema acerca del cual valga la pena aprender más. los objetivos de este proyecto son aprender acerca del tema elegido, poner en práctica todo lo que has aprendido en el curso, así como mejorar tus habilidades comunicativas en inglés. El proyecto es generalmente llevado a cabo por un grupo pequeño de estudiantes en la clase (en la mayoría de los casos, 3). Este proyecto consiste en un trabajo escrito y en una presentación oral

1. Making up the groups. Conformar los grupos.
2. Topic selection: Students think about a topic taking into account their interests. Students work motivated because, both the project and the topic, really interest them.
selección del tema: los estudiantes piensan en un tema teniendo en cuenta sus intereses. Los alumnos están motivados en trabajar porque están interesados tanto en el proyecto como en el tema que eligieron.
3. Exploration: what do students know about the topic? Students brainstorm and share what they know about the topic they chose.
Exploration: ¿Qué saben los estudiantes sobre el tema? Los estudiantes expresan y comparten lo que saben del tema que eligieron.
4. Questioning: students answer to the question what do we want to learn? Students explore the aspects they want to learn more about and pose specific questions that guide their research. Students learn about meaningful and purposeful topics.
Preguntas: los estudiantes responden a la pregunta: ¿qué queremos aprender? Ellos exploran los aspectos acerca de los cuales quieren aprender más y plantean preguntas específicas que guíen su búsqueda. Los alumnos aprenden sobre temas que sean significativos y tengan un propósito para ellos.
5. Planning: students answer to how are they going to learn about the topic? What instruments the students are going to use to obtain the information they need, such as: books, magazines, newspapers, databases, internet, videos, interviews, etc.
Planeación: aquí los estudiantes responden a las preguntas de cómo van a aprender acerca del tema, qué instrumentos van a usar para obtener la información que necesitan, por ejemplo: libros, revistas, periódicos, bases de datos, internet, entrevistas, etc.
6. Writing the draft: After you have collected enough information for your project, write the draft where you define the titles and subtitles of your topic and develop the ideas of each one. Then look for help to review it. Finally, write the final written work
Escribir el borrador: Después de recolectar suficiente información para su proyecto, escriban el borrador donde definan los títulos y subtítulos de su tema y desarrollen las ideas de cada uno. Luego, busquen ayuda para revisarlo y así poder realizar el trabajo escrito final.
7. Preparing the final presentation: After you have finished writing your project, practice giving your speech (out loud) as often as you can. Try to get an audience of family or friends and, of course, among the partners of group, try to listen each other.
Preparar la presentación final: Después de haber terminado de escribir el proyecto, practiquen su presentación en voz alta tantas veces como puedan. Traten de tener una audiencia, ya sea la familia, amigos y, por supuesto, practiquen entre ustedes mismos lo que van a decir.
8. Giving your final oral presentation: If you have practiced often and well, giving the actual speech should be easy. You may still feel a little nervous at first, but soon you will relax and enjoy sharing your topic with your audience. Keep the following suggestions in mind as you give your speech:
Presentación oral final: Si han practicado lo suficiente y bien, la presentación final será sencilla. Puede que al principio se sientan nerviosos, pero pronto se sentirán más relajados y disfrutarán el compartir su tema con la audiencia. Tengan en cuenta las siguientes recomendaciones:
• Speak loudly and clearly. Hablen fuerte y claro.
• Look at your audience, not only at your teacher, as you speak. Miren a la audiencia, no solo al profesor, mientras hablen.
• Show enthusiasm for your topic from start to finish. Demuestren entusiasmo por su tema, desde el inicio hasta el final.
